I've been playing FL for over ten years now, since the time it was known as Echo Bazaar. It is undoubtedly one of the best browser games for story.

It's made by a real company who know what they're doing -- a rarity in PBBGs -- and went on to spawn two videogames with an upcoming third. The writing is top-notch. The lore is deep, sometimes flawed for it, but nonetheless very fleshed out.

If I had any complaints, it's that their monetization isn't the most ethical, and their action bank should double in size. Right now you can be away for a little under 3 1/2 hours to restore all actions. That should ideally be about 8 hours for a game like FL. I suppose some people do find the game very grindy, too, but it is sensible.

Anyway, you won't find a much better use of your time in the PBBG space, especially early on in the game where you're bombarded with quality prose.

Fallen London is a very engaging game with an interesting set of plots and a dark humor to it. If you're looking for a game of this type that you can even enjoy single player, this is the one for you. Though some storylines are behind a paywall, the majority of the game is free and easily accessible.
